Because of it’s strategic location and rail systems, Chattanooga was considered the gateway to the deep south and a strategic location for both the Union and the Confederacy. Travel to and tour the Chickamauga National Battlefield to take an audio tour (car audio tour on CD). While visiting be sure to visit the park’s museum where you will see one of the most extensive arms collections from that period the Fuller Gun Collection. Then visit Lookout Mountain, the home of the “Battle Above the Clouds” where you will visit Battles for Chattanooga Electric Map and Museum. Also included in this package are visits to Ruby Falls and Rock City Gardens, both of which also have historical links to the war between the states.
